How does it work?

This innovative technology uses electrical arcing (a tiny plasma flash) to create tiny dots on the skin.  These plasma dots are a slight burn of the superficial layer of the skin applied as a symmetrical grid over the treatment area.  This in turn boosts the skin's natural regeneration process - the skin contracts and tightens, lifting and improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and encouraging a younger, healthier look.

Results are instantaneous - the treatment stimulates instant contraction and shortening of skin fibres showing positive effects immediately, however the process continues to take effect in the first 2-4 weeks, subject to intensity of treatment and the personal ageing process.  Full results are visible after 4-6 weeks.

How many treatments are required to achieve desired results?

This depends on the client's expectations, the amount of excess skin that requires tightening and the intensity of each treatment.  Age and lifestyle are factors to consider, however the normal procedure would be up to 3 treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart.   A 30 minute consultation is required (prior to treatment) in order to properly assess a client's skin - during this time a recommended treatment plan is outlined along with appropriate forms explained and signed.  When necessary a patch test will be performed.

What should a client expect during a Plasma FX treatment?

The use of a topical numbing cream is applied prior to procedure, providing a 'no pain or minimal discomfort' session.  Following treatment the skin will feel warm (cooling pads will be applied) and appear reddened and slightly swollen.  Slight swelling may last up to 3 days and redness may remain for up to 3 weeks, depending on the client's.  Side effects have usually resolved by day 5 at which point the recommended sunblock and makeup may be applied.

What should a client expect long term?

As with all cosmetic procedures the effects are not entirely permanent and do not halt further ageing.  Positive results are expected to last a few years as opposed to a few months so to maintain best results a repeat treatment may be required 12-18 months after the initial procedures.  It should be noted that lifestyle factors such as alcohol, smoking and sun exposure can interfere with the length of time before further treatment is required as well as race and genetics.
